We're doing GREAT!! Sorrry it took so long to write.IThe girls and I were talking about how our friends were probably so worried without hearing from us,but our own concerns were calmed once we got to know this place. What a beautiful nature this is here. we've watched several humming birds nearby.I saw a 18" long iguana/lizzard thing. no spiders or excessive bugs yet. trash and run-down houses and shops. Chaos in the streets- no rules, drivers on both sides of the road zipping around each other. but everyone friendly.
I was desperate to find a place to live! We stayed in a great hotel room on the water edge the first night. 3 beds-enough for all 6 of us (Us 5 and Erin Deitz-staying one week with us) If we keep paying by the night, it was going to get too expensive. Places are so full since July is their busiest month. I skipped school and house hunted. We have a wonderful little house (by Utila standards) lol 2 bedrooms, kitchen/nook, den,rr, and washing machine on a little porch with clothes lines. Yea! That will help so much with laundry! Oh electricity is cool here. You prepay, and have a gadget in your home that shows how many kilowats you have now, and you can watch them count down and conserve if you want to. A light warns you if you're getting low, so that you can go pay more. It's going to help us stay on budget! You're only hearing from us now because of this amazing gift from David, my older brother, for those who don't know. This laptop is awesome! With it we are picking up wireless from the neighbor.lol Thank you,David!
Food is more expensive here. Bummer. We ate some lentils and rice tonight. With cumin/pepper and salt. We hope to find some honey to buy. Our teachers are awesome ladies. I went by 2 churches to find out their meeting times. We hope to visit the Baptist church tomorrow 7pm. We plan to ask if they'd like to plan a special VBS sort of thing for kids during the SunJam here (big island music party)in a couple weeks. If it's God's will to happen, they'll like the idea,or have other ideas for us. Others we've met need the Lord. Keep praying for opportunities to reveal Him to them.
FYI- the Caribbean accent is strong! I thot they esaggerated it on Pirates of the C. movie, but they didn't!
Wow, that's about all I can say. The girls at this point are wanting to buy some land here and maybe never leave.
We're all exhausted. It's almost my turn for the shower. then bed.

We will be looking forward to hearing what the Baptist church says about a VBS in a couple of weeks. Wouldn't that be exciting to actually be working with the people.
