2 Days Away!

I am getting done with last minute business: getting money belts- hidden pouches for passports/cash, making sure credit card won't be suspended for 'suspicious out-of-country' use, and getting final confirmation from the Spanish school. I want a print-out copy to show Immigration that we'll be in school, but they 'd put that we'd be there from June 31 to Oct.26(not Sept 26). They have replied and corrected the mistakes. Whew! Another glitch is that the apartment I thot we had secured finally responded to my confirmation email with "sorry, we're booked". So, when we arrive in 2 day, we'll be looking for a place to stay. Y'all can pray for that. What an adventure! :-) Thank you for all your friendship, and love, and prayers! God is awesome. (Denise)

Preparations

June 19, 2008- Beginning of the Dream: In the past years I have been amazed with how God chooses to lead my family. We have seen God open and close so many doors. Right now, a new door has been opened part of the way, where we can see to the other side. The other side is Utila, a Honduran Island on the Caribbean. A place where my family would be able to stay for three months this year learning Spanish, and doing Bible clubs through CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) Spanish has become a necessity, especially in Texas, and not to mention it is a high school requirement. We have streets all around our home, where only Spanish speaking adults and children dwell. We cannot wait to be able to open up our hearts, Bible clubs, and love of Christ to them in their language! We pray that we'll be able to depart the United States and head off to Utila very soon, in fact, the beginning of July. Once there we will be staying in a small apartment on that 2x6 mile island, and everyday from 8am-12pm we will be enrolled in the Central American Language School. After lessons each day we will have time to keep up with some normal studies, explore and enjoy the island, meet the natives there, and host fun Bible clubs. At first we will need an interpreter, Lord willing we will meet one at the church we will attend while there, but by the end of the three months, we will be able to speak to the children in their language at a level 6 out of 10. I'm spending lots of email time since it's hard to reach anyone on the island by phone, and they don't reply quickly to emails either. We're doing what we can one step at a time, and seeing how all this will unfold. Financial Report, $12175 - $4448 = balance of $7727 still needed.

June 24, 2008- We can hardly believe that in six short days,we will be in Utila! We are very excited! This is like no other trip we have ever done, since it in an international journey, so some anxiety has come with the unknown. First, we went to get our immunizations with the Weber family, who will join us in September in Utila. We all consoled ourselves with ice cream after all those shots! and the kids had a good swim to move those sore arms. (See pics below)

We have begun taking our malaria pills. Outfits have been chosen and set apart in our closets, the Hambrick family, with their 7 years of Honduran experience, gave us an evening of advice.

Every morning this week, we and the Schmidt family have been doing a 5-day Bible Club for a Boys and Girls club in FW, TX. This has been a blessing already to see 9 children ask Christ to be their Savior just today! It's also been good to refresh on the stories, songs, verses, and games we plan to use while in Utila. Pray for God to open doors for opportunities to share Him with others there.

We needed $12,175.00 for the trip. That's less than $2,500 per person for transportation (2 flights) to the island, food, passports, shots, 3 months apartment, and 3 mo. of Immersion Spanish School with 2 teachers for us! Quite a deal! God has provided$6,098 in such beautiful ways. By faith we are leaving on our trip June 30th and return September 30th , trusting God will provide, as He has in the past, the rest of the costs. We need $6,077 now. If God prompts you to give anything towards this mission and dream He's given my family, the easiest way might be through the "Donate" Button at the bottom of our site. Whether or not you are able to donate, your prayers that entire three months of July, August, and September would be much appreciated! Remember, when you do the Lord's work, Satan will try anything to stop it. We cannot wait to see all the doors, and hearts that will be opened living there, and the many more that will come once we return home and are able to communicate with our mouths in Spanish to the many lives, and souls around us! We welcome you, and appreciate you, and are happy to share our journey to those of you reading this.God bless!
